Understanding Ankle Replacements

While many patients are familiar with the terms "Hip Replacement" or "Knee Replacement," the concept of Ankle Replacement remains relatively new in South Africa. However, due to significant advancements in Ankle replacements over the past 15 to 20 years, this procedure is becoming increasingly common for patients suffering from end-stage, bone-on-bone, grade 4 osteoarthritis of the ankle.
